A friend and coworker's brother was graduating from college, and I'd been asked to make this little cake.
It's supposed to be the graduation cap, in case you were wondering. See the tassle?
The bottom, which you can't see, consists of a couple of 6" rounds. I believe I placed a few drinking straws in the cake and trimmed them level just above the top of the cake. This was the support for the larger square layer, which I'd placed on a piece of foamcore so it wouldn't flop all over the place. The cake was transported in two pieces, as well.
Decoration, as you can see, was minimal - just the greeting and the tassle and the little button thing that you loop the tassle onto.
Ta da.
