As we've done for the past couple of years, we're planning a night of hearty German food and beverages.
I'm not going to write up new posts about all of the foods - it's pretty much the same menu with a variation here and there, so if you'd like to read about the food prep, here are the things we'll be making:
We'll also be serving assorted brats and mustards, and marinated mushrooms - ooh, I could post that recipe, couldn't I? Bill made them. Hmmm...maybe I'll do that today. Where was I? Oh yes, and red cabbage - there's another recipe I haven't posted ever.
In the past I've made Onion Cake and Pumpernickel Bread (which, apparently, I haven't posted about either)...not sure if I'll be doing that this year. Our guest list is a bit smaller, and really, the stars of the show are the sauerbraten and spaetzle - and the gravy.
I'll also be making a Linzertorte, which was at Bill's request. I already know the house is going to smell fabulous when I get that in the oven.
But for now, there's a lot of cleaning to be done around here.
So, what are your plans for the weekend?
Your menu sounds awesome! That onion cake looks really amazing. We're doing an Oktoberfest this weekend too :)

Hahahaha! Sort of! It's the charcoal chimney for our grill - I was getting coals ready so I could cook breakfast out there one morning. I just loved how it looked!
