I'll let you know right now that I didn't remember to take a picture of the finished dish - I just completely forgot to.
But I liked the pictures, so I figured I'd just go ahead and post them.
Bill does the Paella-making in our house. It's just one of those things - he does the majority of the rice-based dishes, except I make the risotto.
Anyway, it's nice when he cooks because then I can just hang out and sort of relax. And annoy him with my camera.
So these are pictures I took on New Year's Eve, 2009, while Bill was making dinner. Most are of the food and a few are just images that caught my eye while I meandered around the house.
Scrummy - what is in the soffrito?

Weve got canned tomatoes and some of our own tomatoes that I roasted and froze. And some green pepper and roasted red pepper. No onion or garlic. One of our guests that night has an INTENSE dislike for anything allium, and fortunately the recipe we used only called for a bit of garlic, and we eliminated that entirely. Wed browned the sausages and chicken thighs and added the vegetables to it...and then later the saffron, which Bill had soaked in a bit of water. A bit too tomatoey this time around, but very good regardless.
