Alex has a new bookmark. It's got tiny little portraits of all the US presidents on one side. My parents thought he might like it. (He does.)
This morning Alex bravely but graciously allowed Julia to look at it. She recognized our current president, of course, and was asking about some of the others (mainly she wanted to know why this one's portrait had a red outline and that one didn't) when Alex said "Julia! Julia, I want to show you something."
He pointed at one of the tiny faces.
"This is our sixteenth president. His name is Abraham Lincoln. He-"
"I KNOW who that is," Julia said, in her best been-there-done-that-I'm-a-teenager-though-I'm-only-six way. "I just didn't know what he's been up to!"

Funny people, these shorter members of my household.
And speaking of what people have been up to, I've been making gougeres for French Fridays with Dorie, and I'll be back a bit later this morning with that post.
Hope to see you again soon!
