I finished her this morning.
I was going to make her pink, or purple, considering she was for Julia.
But as I was digging through fabric, I came across some soft thin flannel pieces that I decided to use instead.
The fabric is from my late maternal grandmother’s stash. It’s very soft, and quite cheerful with all the little cherries all over the place.
My grandmother made me a doll – the doll’s name was Emmy – when I was little. Emmy wore a dress made from this fabric. Actually, she still wears it. I still have her. Here she is:
I will probably give her to Julia one day, but not yet.
For now, there’s this little elephant.
She’s a little taller than the triceratops I made for Alex, and a little wider.
Actually, her girth is a bit of an issue. Her little legs aren’t quite sturdy enough to hold her up. Especially the front legs.
I’m sure that’s more to do with my toy-making skills (such as they are) than anything else. I’m working on it.
I’m mostly happy with her, though. I love her ears.
And I like her little yarn tail.
And I am especially happy with her little dainty eyelashes.
Julia was very pleased. She hugged her little elephant and I believe she has named it “Cherry.”
Wonder what I’ll make next….
Hi I love it. I"m a huge fan of fabric with cherries on it. The ears are wonderful. I've been reading you for years, and I look forward to every new post.

Adorable!
My sewing skills have gone way out the window, so I feel for me to attempt something like this would result in something erm, well possibly not recognisable!

Oooh, so cute! I love that she's a bit too heavy for her legs, it's adorable actually! She looks a bit insecure but sweet as candy!
