I was baking all the lebkuchen yesterday and thought this one looked kind of cool with the light residue of flour across the crackled surface.
So, as I am wont to do, I took a picture.
Now, this isn’t the banner I’d planned/hoped for/dreamed of this month. But the plans for my original idea got baked off accidentally on Monday, and since we’re nearly (gulp) a third of the way through December, I figured I needed to get SOME kind of banner up before the month was gone completely.
And we all know how much faster December flies by than any other month.
So, after much angst and debate and inner turmoil and reading of tea leaves, this morning, I just went with the cookie.
I know. Riveting, isn’t it?
Well, at least when I was baking the lebkuchen (and the pfeffernusse) yesterday, I didn’t get any doughs mixed up.
That’s something.
Today – German butter cookies, Farmer Hats, and, maybe, Almond Stars.
And who knows what else.
So, what are you up to today?
What was November's banner? I couldn't decide.
December's cookie looks like an ancient wall, with old painted stick chickens dancing across the chocolate yard.

Novembers banner was a black futsu squash that had been roasted in the oven. Very yummy.
