Yesterday morning the kids were looking out the window and saw this busy little critter.
She (I’m assuming it’s a she) was running up and down the tree gathering dead leaves and twigs and bringing them up to her little hidey-hole in one of the larger branches.
We figure she’s building a nest.
The kids are very excited.
Babies!
Yes, I know, squirrels are fluffy-tailed rodents. Big gray rats to some of you.
But around here we kind of like them. They’re cute. They’re entertaining. And since they haven’t ever chewed through anything important to us, we coexist peacefully.
The kids had their breakfast in the living room so they could watch Mrs. Squirrel at work.
Oh, that? That’s one of our little seedling setups. Paint cans stacked at each end hold up the light. The broccoli seedlings are to the left, and the tomatoes, eggplant and peppers are to the right.
You never know what you’re going to find around here.
Or out there.
