See this girl?
She’s been busy today.
She’s been pulling last year’s dead plants from the window boxes.
And adding a little manure and plant food and water to the soil.
And planting new pansies.
She pretty much worked without supervision.
She knew what needed to be done, and she did it.
She’s a hard worker.
And she likes flowers.
“What’s this doing in here??” It’s a peanut. Apparently a squirrel thought the window box was a good hiding place.
Julia’s fingernails, by the way, are green.
“Here you go, squirrel, you can have your nut back!” She threw it toward the tree where we think squirrels are building a nest.
Then it was back to work.
Joyfully.
Daddy showed her how last year’s marigolds are now seeds for this year’s marigolds. They scattered them all over the dirt, so we’ll see where they decide to come up.
You never know what you’ll find when you dig around in the dirt.
Like, for instance, this big worm!
Sorry, Mr. Worm, but there’s no escape for you. You’re about to become lizard food. (Hey, we’re all part of the great circle of life.)
Anyway, Julia planted the window boxes, and planted some pansies in our garden on the ground below, and even planted some over in our neighbor’s garden.
And it’s still early yet.
There’s no telling what else she’ll accomplish today.

I love her watering can!
We are planning to do our spring planting in a couple of weeks. I can't wait!
