That picture was taken on Thursday – the 19th. I didn’t pick it then because the underside was still white. But still – a red strawberry! May 19th!
Our strawberries got off to a really good start this year and we figure that’s because all the plants – the ones in the recycle bins and the ones growing in the ground – were covered by our experimental winter gardens.
The plants grew really tall – taller than we remember them from last year.
And we’ve got tons of blossoms, so we’re looking forward to tons of berries soon.
Well, as long as we can keep the birds and the kids from getting all of them first.
