Yesterday Julia came home with three tadpoles in a plastic cup. Yes, she had my permission. I figured, why not? We have a lizard, a bunch of fish, and three (yes, it’s three now) hermit crabs…why not some amphibians to round out the mix?
It’s the end of the school year, and Julia’s teacher sent home an open invitation to parents to come in and talk to the class for anywhere from ten to thirty minutes about their job or a hobby or something.
So…the father of one of Julia’s classmates works for DEM and he came in wearing, as I understand it, a wet suit, and toting a cooler of tadpoles.
Or something along those lines.
Anyway, when I picked up the kids yesterday, Julia started to run out of the building toward me but then turned around with her brother and headed back to their Science teacher, who had the aforementioned cooler, and was telling the kids that they could have some tadpoles IF their parents said it was okay.
So. We have tadpoles.
Not exactly the sort of farm I dream of…but certainly a menagerie.
We did a count. We currently have ten pets with names, plus a 55 gallons tank of assorted fish.
Well, technically the tadpoles done have names. They will…but Julia’s still fielding suggestions and rejecting them all.
Some of the suggestions:
Flip, Flop and Fly (mine)
Tic, Tac, Toe (Bill’s)
Yabba, Dabba, Doo (Alex’s)
All of these were rejected.
I think I’d also suggested Skippy, Hoppy, and Jumpy at some point. Nope.
So who knows. Julia tends to use physically descriptive names (some of her stuffed animals have names like Brown Stripe, Black Ears, and Pink Nose…), so I’m thinking, at the moment, they’ll end up with names like Wiggly, Round Body, and Slimey.
Any suggestions?
How about Larry and his brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl?

Are you sure you can't milk a frog? That would add to your cheese repertoire...but if possible, the logistics of collecting it all make it a logistical nightmare. *sigh* Keep on with the goats' milk I 'spose. HA!

How 'bout I use logistics in another form...one more time. Cripes...time for bed!
