I think “Nemo” is a ridiculous name for a blizzard.
Just wanted to get that off my chest.
Now I can continue.
A little while ago the four of us went outside to do some shoveling. Before we could do that, Bill had to muscle the side door open because ice and snow were blocking the way.
(Negative image of Julia all bundled up for the outdoors.)
We were very lucky – we didn’t lose power at all, despite the crazy wind wailing outside and the sleety snow pelting our windows through the night.
And we’re lucky today – our nephew Joe called JUST as we were all heading out the door to tell us not to shovel – he’s coming over later with a snow blower. We shoveled anyway, in order to move the truck and the car forward in our driveway so he’d have a place to park when he gets here. Bill and I did the driveway – parts of it – while Alex and Julia shoveled our front steps and a couple of the neighbors’ front steps as well. The snow kept yanking one of Alex’s boots off, and he was – reluctantly – the first of us to go inside. His foot was freezing. I went inside next, but the driveway was finished enough for Joe to get his truck in. Bill was still shoveling snow out of the back of our truck. Julia came in next – snow in her boots, stuck to her hat, her mittens, her hair, everywhere. Hot cocoa and dry clothes put her in a better mood.
Here are the pictures I took this morning:
(23” in our driveway. Hard to get an accurate measurement because of all the drifting.)
Those of you who also felt the Wrath of Nemo (so hard to say with a straight face), how did you fare?
You got those window quilts up just in the nick of time....

I'm loving the photo of the windowbox with the snow! It's trying to reach into your home!!!
But poor kids. Snow in your boot is never fun. Ever.
[and I agree. Nemo? Really?!]
